Summer Slump

True. True. I haven't been writing much lately and I have a few excuses ready:

One, school started and I have new curriculum in my CS IV class. That means I have to stay ahead of the students, watch every video and read every new article very carefully so I can help them understand it. Since this is my philosophy course, and rather complicated, it takes me a while.

Two, my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren moved to Missouri, so I went to visit them the week before school started. I walked around a lot, enjoying the creeks and the parks. Nobody seems to be allergic to poison ivy but me. It's been two weeks now since I returned. The medicine seems to be wearing off now and I'm not as incredibly sleepy as I was for a while.

Three, friends of ours from Colorado brought us their son. He is staying in the dorm during the week and with us on weekends. We've been catching up on everything that has happened in each others' lives for the past twelve years via e-mail, phone, and facebook.

Four, our Wednesday night staff at the church unanimously decided to abandon our children's program because of what we perceived as a growing commercialism and softening of the program. We are now writing our own curriculum. That means motto, emblem, song, awards, and selection of lessons for the year. It has all fallen into place beautifully, but not without some time input.

Five, with my grandchildren gone I don't get that daily input of cute sayings and doings to report.

Six, with temperatures over one hundred, I don't get lovely pictures on my morning walks...in fact I don't even get morning walks very often.

Oh well, enough excuses. Tomorrow I'm going to write a real blog post...pictures and all...you'll see. Now for a little nap before church tonight...
